VICTIM OF THE SUNSHINE STATION RAILWAY DISASTER
On the night of Easter Monday, 20 April 1908, over 400 were injured and 44 people died as a result of a Melbourne-bound train from Bendigo colliding with the rear of a mail train from Ballarat, which was just leaving the station. Around 1,100 people were aboard the two trains. Almost all of the casualties were from the Ballarat train, as the Bendigo train was cushioned by its two locomotives.

Son of James Pascoe and Ellen (Hore) Pascoe.

AT BALLARAT.
SIX INTERMENTS.
Ballarat, 23rd April.
The funerals of Mrs. Janet Morris. Messrs. J. Brown, James Pascoe, A. Ellingsen, Ernest Denier, and Algernon Blight, who were killed in the railway accident at Sunshine, on Monday night, look place here to-day. Each funeral was largely attended, and crowds of people lined the streets through which the mournful processions passed. The sympathy of citizens was also cxnrersod by flags flying half-mast above the City and Town Halls, the Deutsche Verein Club House, St. George's Society's flag pole in the Cathedral ground, A.N.A. Hall, and on many other buildings in the city and town. At the reception in the Burnbank-street Methodist Church tonight to Mr. F. Jolly and Mrs. Jolly, a resolution was passed expressing sympathy with those who suffered bereavement as the result of the late terrible railway disaster at Sunshine, and that letters of condolence be sent to the families of the bereaved in Ballarat.
