LAST VICTIM OF THE SUNSHINE STATION RAILWAY DISASTER
On the night of Easter Monday, 20 April 1908, over 400 were injured and 44 people died as a result of a Melbourne-bound train from Bendigo colliding with the rear of a mail train from Ballarat, which was just leaving the station. Around 1,100 people were aboard the two trains. Almost all of the casualties were from the Ballarat train, as the Bendigo train was cushioned by its two locomotives.

Son of Oscar Skoglund and Aurora Caroline Christine (Sellgren) Skoglund.

Married Jennie Grace, who was also injured in the collision, on Jan. 8, 1908 in Ballarat, Victoria.

His left arm was fractured; gangrene set in one leg, which was amputated two days after the accident. Died at Alfred Hospital, Melbourne.

POSPONED ENGINE TESTS.
TO BE MADE TO-DAY.
. . . The number of victims of the collision was increased to 44 yesterday afternoon, when Mr. Oscar Skoglund succumbed in the Alfred Hospital to the injuries which he received on that fateful journey. Notwithstanding the critical nature of his case from the outset, hopes were entertained last week that Mr. Skoglund would be pulled through. The circumstances are particularly sad, as the wife of the deceased, a bride of but a few months, is under treatment at the Alfred Hospital for serious injuries received in the accident. . .
