THE SUNSHINE STATION RAILWAY DISASTER On the night of Easter Monday, 20 April 1908, over 400 were injured and 44 people died as a result of a Melbourne-bound train from Bendigo colliding with the rear of a mail train from Ballarat, which was just leaving the station. Around 1,100 people were aboard the two trains. Almost all of the casualties were from the Ballarat train, as the Bendigo train was cushioned by its two locomotives.

Daughter of Rev. Robert Thomas Roberts and Eliza Roberts.

Married Griffith Hughes on Dec. 25, 1907.

WEDDINC BELLS.
HUGHES-ROBERTS. A VERY pretty and quiet wedding took place at the Welsh manse, Ferguson street, on Christmas Day, the contracting parties being Griffith, the second son of Mr. Owen Hughes, Hall-street, Newport, and Miss Ada Ann Roberts, daughter of the late Rev. T. R. Roberts, Williamstown. The Rev. J. J. Owen was the officiating clergy man, assisted by the Rev. R. A. Roberts (brother of the bride), the Rev. H. Jones, M.A., Rev. I. Glyn Jones and Rev. Mr. Rowlands (Queensland). The bridegroom is the moderator of the Welsh Presbyterian Church of Victoria. The bride was prettily costumed in white silk. Miss W. Roberts acted as bridesmaid, Mr. J. Jones being best man. After the ceremony the bridal party, to the number of 50, sat down to the wedding breakfast in the house The usual toasts were honored. The happy couple were the recipients of a number of valuable presents.
