STATE COLLEGE - Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the David K. Dahlgren Funeral Home, Philipsburg, for Ruth Ann Askey, 63, of State College and formerly of Hawk Run, who died Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006, at home.
Father William R. Walker and the Rev. Dr. Dreald Stump will officiate.
Interment will be at Ashcroft Cemetery, Hawk Run.
Friends will be received at the funeral home tomorrow from 2-7 p.m.
Born April 8, 1942, at Philipsburg, she was a daughter of Joseph and Ruth Naomi (Wilson) Kasnick.
She was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, State College.
She was also a member of the American Legion Post No. 245 Ladies Auxiliary of State College, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 321 Ladies Auxiliary of State College, Reliance Fire Co. No.1 Ladies Auxiliary of Philipsburg and ladies Guild at the Chapel of the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, Hawk Run.
On Sept. 24, 1960, at Clearfield, she wed Kenneth L. Askey, who preceded her in death June 24, 1974.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Jeffrey (Debra) Wakefield of Philipsburg and Sharon Fellows and her companion, Mark Mellott, of State College.
Also surviving is a sister, Mrs. Willard (Donna L.) Bratton of Philipsburg RD.
She is also survived by four grandchildren, Kenneth Fraser Wright of Massachusetts and Ashley Elizabeth Philbin of Fort Bragg, N.C., and their father, Thomas P. Philbin; Amber marie Fellows of State College and Lindsey Anne Fellows of State College and their father, Richard A. Fellows.
Mrs. Askey was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and stepfather, Samuel Lidgett.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to American Red Cross State College Chapter, 121 1/2 E. Beaver Ave., State College, PA 16801 or to the American Diabetes (Can't read the rest of the obit)
