Charles "Charlie" Edward Caricofe Sr., 62, of Grottoes, Va., died Saturday, Dec.
28, 2002, at University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, Va. He
was born on Dec. 7, 1940, and was a son of the late Roy Caricofe and the late
Roxie (Rivercomb) Caricofe.
He was employed by Reynolds Metals (Plastic Division) and also a member of
Reynolds Retired Association. He was a graduate of Turner Ashby High School.
He was a member of Grottoes Church of Christ. Charles was an active member of
his church, and he loved fishing and gardening.
He was first married to Karen Kennedy Caricofe of Grottoes and then he was
united in marriage on July 7, 1982, to Lucille (Sandridge) Caricofe of Grottoes
who survive.
He is also survived by three children and their spouses, Chuck & Debbie Caricofe
of Grottoes, Tammy & Jacques Laliberte of Grottoes, Tina & Mike McAlister of
Mount Crawford; four stepchildren and spouses, LuAnn & Jim Huggard of
Waynesboro, Terry & Dennis Cason of Greenville, Carlton & Kari Bowman of
Indianapolis, IA and Karen Putman of Harrisonburg; three sisters, Jean Martz of
Dayton, Margaret McCauley of Port Republic, Ella Miller of Woodbridge; two
brothers, Marvin "Bud" Caricofe of Dayton, and Roy "Buster" Caricofe of
Bridgewater. Twelve grandchildren, Tim Laliberte, Brian Caricofe, Matt Caricofe,
Brandon Caricofe, Eric Huggard, Ashleigh Huggard, Josh Cason, Danny Cason, Rob
Spencer, Nick Spencer, Lizzy Bowman, and Aaron Bowman also survive.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Janet Morral and Norma Caricofe.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, at the
Grottoes Church of Christ with the Revs. Roger Hart and Gene Williams
officiating. Interment will follow at Port Republic Cemetery. The family will
receive friends at the Johnson Funeral Service, Bridgewater Monday from 7 to 8
p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to the Grottoes Church of Christ, Kay
