James Lewis Penrod, age 81, of Altamont, Utah, died September 14, 2012, at the Timpanogos Regional Hospital in Orem, Utah. He was born April 12, 1931, in Provo, Utah, to James Dean and Jane "Jennie" Irene Lewis Penrod.
He married Phyllis Maxine Petersen September 6, 1951, in Evanston, Wyoming; they were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
James grew up in Provo. He attended schools there and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1949. James served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He lived 37 years in Pleasant Grove before moving to Altamont in 1993. He worked 16 years for Walker Construction in Pleasant Grove and 20 years for Wheeler Machinery in Salt Lake City.
Survived by his wife of 61 years, Phyllis, of Altamont; a daughter, Debbie (Gary) Robinson, of Boneta; three grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents; a son, Carl Dean Penrod; a grandson, Brandon Lee Robinson; and a sister, Norma Penrod.
Funeral services held Thursday, September 20, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Altamont Stake Center. Viewings held Wednesday September 19, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 10-10:45 a.m. Burial in the Mountain Home-Boneta Cemetery.
