Mrs Maude Buchman of Sibley passed away at 12:30 Tuesday afternoon, November 4, 1947. She suffered the last two years from a heart ailment that caused her demise. She had been a patient at the state hospital for several years. She was 77 years, one month, and 18 days of age. Maude Gontjes was born Sept. 17, 1870, at Florence, Illinois where she received her schooling. In 1883, she moved with her parents to Osceola County, Iowa. On November 14, 1887, she was married to William Buchman. To this union, eight children were born, four of them preceding her in death. Her husband passed away on December 5, 1915 at their home in Sibley. Surviving are the four children; Frank E. of Worthington, Minnesota, Mrs. Leslie Millan of Sioux City, Iowa, Mrs. Andrew Johnson of Camby, Minnesota, and James of Lake Park, Iowa; ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren; also three sisters; Mrs. Hattie Schuster of Fulda, Minnesota, Mrs. John Schroeder of Melvin, Iowa, and Mrs Ed Paygle of Sibley, Iowa; and a host of relatives and friends. Her memory is cherished by all who knew her. She was a willing worker and a helpful neighbor. Funeral services were held at the Walton Funeral Home at Sibley, Iowa on Friday afternoon, November 7, and interment was in the family lot in the Holman cemetery near Sibley.
