PIONEER OF OSCEOLA COUNTY PASSED AWAY SATURDAY -- Leonard Gontjes afflicted with cancer of the stomach passed away Saturday evening at his home in Melvin. Mr. Gontjes was for many years Section Boss at Sibley and since removing to Melvin has continued his service as Section Boss in the later location. He leaves one son, John yet in the home and one daughter, Mrs. Bessie Shirk residing on a farm near Melvin. Funeral services were conducted at one o'clock Wednesday and interment was made in the Sibley cemetery by the side of his wife who preceded him to the world beyond.
