James J. Gontjes dies Tuesday -- Over forty years resident of Sibley; ill for several months -- James J. Gontjes died Monday evening at Sibley hospital following an illness of several months. The funeral will be held this afternoon, at 1:30 o'clock at the house and 2 o'clock at the American Reformed Church, Rev. J.M. DeVries conducting the services. Burial will be made in the Sibley cemetery. The deceased was born September 5, 1865, at Eilsum, East Friesland, Germany. Since 1911 he has been a resident of the county, removing to Sibley in 1911. he was married to Lizzie Eachen, June 18, 1914. Aside from the widow one son, John B., brother John H. , Hinkley, Minn., sister, Mrs. George Schuster, Fulda, Minn; Mrs. Schmidt, Worthington, Minn; Mrs. John Schroeder, Melvin; Mrs. William Buchman and Mrs. Ed Paygle, Sibley. Before coming to Sibley he resided at Hanover, Ill. For a number of years he was a prominent and successful farmer. He is a member of the American Reformed church.
