Daveann, the daughter of the late Sydney and Amelia Broughton Wallace, was born in Plumerville, Arkansas where she attended school. She professed her faith in Christ at an early age, uniting with the Jones Chapel Baptist Church, and she was baptized by Rev. Norah Hayes. She was a faithful member and a member of the choir. Her parents moved to Tullahassee, Oklahoma where she joined the 1st Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. Barber.

Mama and Daddy Ward Griffin were married October 22, 1927. Daddy preceded her in death. This union was blesse with two children. In 1935, Mama and Daddy moved to Kansas City, Missouri. She joined the Macedonia Baptist Church in 1937 under the pastorate of the late Rev. preston Allen, Sr., where she served as a faithful member of the Usher Board, a teacher in the Sunday School and a member of the Mother Board. Mama was "grandma" to her grandchildren. She was a mother to the motherless, a friend to the friendless, a truly unselfish Christian woman. During her employment she worked as a caterer. Mama passed away at Brothers of Mercy, Saturday evening, March 20, 1976.

She leaves to cherish her memory: one daughter, Esther M. Gonzales of the Home; one son-in-law, Lillard Gonzales; one son and daughter-in-law, Edward L. and Argatha Griffin of the city; ten grandchildren; three great grandchildren; five sisters, Addie Hickman, Tullahassee, Oklahoma, Velma Washington and Bernice Carter of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Margaret Donel and Talease Wallace of Chicago, Illinois; two brothers, Sydney Wallace, Jr., Chicago, Illinois and James Ambric Wallace, Los Angeles, California; a host of devoted nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is our beloved mother - Mrs. Daveann Griffin.
