Mrs. Catherine Louise "Cas" Johnson, 77, of 13864 Old National Pike, Mount Airy, died Saturday, May 29, at Lorien Nursing Home, Mount Airy, after an extended illness.

Born November 17, 1926, in Frederick County, she was the daughter of the late Ephrim and Margaret Elizabeth Smith Keeney.

She was the wife of the late George Raymond Johnson Sr., who died in 1990.

Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Middleburg United Methodist Church and Johnsville Senior Citizens. She and her husband were both raised on Crouse Mill Road and purchased their first home in Johnsville. In 1995, she moved with her son and daughter-in-law.

From 1961 to 1980, she was employed at the Union Bridge Clothing Co. She enjoyed sewing, reading, her grandchildren and their activities.

Surviving are daughter, Joan L. Hawkins and husband, Greg, of Westminster; a son, George R. Johnson Jr., and wife, Joan, of Mount Airy; four grandchildren, Rodney and Robbie Johnson, Jennifer Beneteau, and Angie Hawkins; seven great-grandchildren, Christin, Cory, and Jacob Johnson; Nicholas Tharp, Blake Ford, Ryan Moates and Lauren Beneteau; three sisters, Margaret Main of Felton, Del.; Annie Muller of Middleburg and Nina Martin of Westminster.

She was predeceased by sisters, Beulah Myers, Miriam Reynolds, Genevive Doody, Mary Myers and Clara Grossnickle; brothers, Ross, James and Bruce Keeney.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 6 E. Broadway, Union Bridge, with the Rev. Holly Slaugh, her pastor, officiating.

Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home at 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, June 1.
