When death summoned Mrs. Kate Walrack, wife of Peter Walrack, Tuesday Feb. 12, 1901, a good wife, mother and friend was taken from our community.
The deceased who was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M.L. Gould was born in this village, July 28, 1876, where nearly the most of her short life was spent.
In Dec. 24, 1895, she was united in marriage to Peter Walrack, who with one son Michael aged three years together with her father, mother, brothers, sisters, and many friends are left to mourn her early demise.
About a year after their marriage, they took up their residence on a farm in Waldwick but last fall when Mr. Walrack saw that the dread disease, consumption had fastened its fangs on his beloved wife, he disposed of his farm and came to Blanchardville to live, where she could have the best care and medical aid and prolong her life as much as possible.
The funeral took place at the M.E. Church, Friday, Feb. 15th. Rev. J.E. Webster conducted the services. The remains were interred in the Blanchardville Cemetery.
