According to a letter from my Aunt Lenore (his granddaughter) "He was injured by a horse, Thrown against a wagon wheel, Dad (Chester Leo McDaniel Sr.) said, and died about a year later. He is reported to have spit up blood during his illness and they seemed to think lung problems; I think one strong likelihood is that he had a piece of bone puncture his lung. Dad did say the horse accident broke some ribs. He was very young."
