SHARPSVILLE, Ind. - Jerry
"Blacky" Blackburn, 47,
Sharpsville R.R. 1, died at
9:12 a.m. Monday, Jan. 1,
1980, in Howard Community Hospital
in Kokomo.
He was born June 30, 1942, in
Tipton County, a son of Charles
and Hazel (Acup) Blackburn. Aug.
22, 1969, he married Rebecca A.
Harness, who survives.
Blackburn retired as a machine
operator in November, 1987, from
Chrysler Corp. after 19 years of
service. He was a member of
Fraternal Order of Eagles 255,
Loyal Order of Moose 179, American
Legion and United Auto
Workers Local 605. He served in
the Air Force in the Vietnam War.
Also surviving are two daughters,
Mrs. Mark (Jerryl) Dye of
Sharpsville and Mrs. Gary
(Sherry) Jarvis of Kokomo; his
parents of Sharpsville; two
brothers, Dale Blackburn of
Kokomo and Terry Blackburn of
St. Petersburg, Fla.; three sisters,
Maxine Ulster and Debe High,
both of Kokomo, and Judy Brown
of St. Petersburg; and five grandchildren.
A son, a brother and a
sister preceded him in death.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday
in Ellers Mortuary in
Kokomo. The Rev. David Cornelius
will officiate. Burial will be
in Nevada Cemetery. Friends may
call from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Thursday at the mortuary where a
Moose service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m.
