Margaret L. (Peggy) Aunkst, 70, a resident of Muncy, PA, passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2012 at her residence.
Born in Williamsport, Lycoming County, PA, on Sunday, November 23, 1941, she was the daughter of the late L. Ernest and Alene (Rose) Derr.
She was the wife of Wayne L. Aunkst with whom she celebrated a 49th wedding anniversary on June 16, 2011.
Peggy was a 1960 graduate of Williamsport High School. She was last employed by the Watsontown Christian Acadamy Day Care Center and had previously been employed by Lending Textiles at Montgomery, PA.
She was a member of the Delaware Run Wesleyan Church at Watsontown, PA.
In addition to her husband, Peggy is survived by four children, Timothy W. (Deb) Aunkst, Muncy, PA; Wanda L. (Randall) Jordan, Milesburg, PA; Karen M. (Anthony) Iezzi, Gray, TN; John W. (Beth) Aunkst, Montgomery, PA; two sisters, Bernice Harriman, Williamsport, PA; Jean Crain, Williamsport, PA and one brother, L. Ernest Derr, Sr., Cogan Station, PA. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Peggy was preceded in death by three sisters, Edna Salayda; Elsie Derr; Sarah Hetzel and one granddaughter.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Delaware Run Wesleyan Church, 5570 Musser Lane, Watsontown, PA at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, May 31, 2012 with Reverend Michael C. Reece, her pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the Twin Hills Memorial Park, Fairfield Twp., Lycoming County, PA. Friends may call on Wednesday from 7:00 - 9:00 P.M. or on Thursday from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. at the church. The family will provide the flowers.
