MARY PENNING

Mrs. Alfred Penning, 74, was found dead in her home at Chilton, early Wednesday afternoon, the victim of an apparent heart attack. Mrs. Penning, who lived alone, had not been heard during the earlier part of the day by residents of the building's lower apartment. They notified her two daughters who went to the upper apartment and found her dead.

The former Mary Ludwig, she was born in the town of Stockbridge, Aug. 14, 1892, a daughter of the late Frank and Magdalena Roell Ludwig. On May 27, 1914 she was married to Alfred Penning at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Kloten. The couple operated a farm in the town of Stockbridge until the time of his death in 1950. Three years later Mrs. Penning moved to Chilton.

Mrs. Penning was a member of the Christian Mothers Society of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, a member of the Daughters of Isabella, Joan of Arc Circle, GUG Germania Society and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Ernest (Eleanor) Franzen of Stockbridge and Mrs. Orville (Georgiana) Meyer of R. 1, Mt. Calvary; three sons, Sylvester of Stockbridge, Roman of Waukesha and Harold on the homestead; six brothers, Jacob and Fred of Chilton, Otto and Edmund of R. 3, Chilton, Andrew of Eagle River, and Charles of Sheboygan; two sisters, Mrs. Harvey Dekarske and Mrs. Christ Brack both of Sheboygan; 26 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. One brother and two sisters preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Chilton and at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.
