Charles O. Foor of 900 Weaver Street, Saxton, Died in the Veterans Administration Hospital at Altoona on Tuesday, May 18, 1971, at 10:10 a.m. He had been in failing health since 1957.
He was born March 18, 1911 at Dudley, a son of William A. and Emma (Spahn) Foor. He was united in marriage to Mary Catherine McElwain on April 6, 1932 at Cumberland, Md.
Surviving are his wife and the following children: Mrs. Donald (Deloris) Swope, Wood; Mrs. Leroy (Patricia)Putt, Saxton; Mrs. John (Mary) O'Neal, Leavettsburg, Ohio; Mrs. Charles (Linda) King, Old Forge; Charles J. Foor, Hesston, and Joseph L Foor, Saxton. One son and one daughter preceded him in death. There are 20 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The following sisters survive: Mrs. Stella Getic, Mrs. Larson (Freda) Johnson and Mrs. Howard (Edith) Reed, all of Saxton, and Mrs. Emmitt (Vera) Foor of Six Mile Run. Three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
The deceased was a member of the Chruch of God faith. He belonged to the United Mine Workers of America. He was a veteran of Army service in World War II.
He had been a coal miner for 39 years and for the four years prior to his retirement he had worked for the Youngstown Steel Car Company.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. from the Masood funeral chapel, Saxton. Interment will be made in the Duvall Cemetery at Six Mile Run. The Rev. Bedsaul Agee will officiated.
