An excerpt from the family biography:
Louie W. Bouma was born in the Netherlands on May 24, 1900 and came to America with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Bouma in 1904. They first lived near Hammond, Indiana, for 2 1/2 years and then moved to Rock Valley, Iowa where they lived until the spring of 1910 when they homestead 160 acres between Choteau and Dutton, Montana.

Louie W. Bouma was married to Nina Kaptein in Choteau, Montana, on December 14, 1923. They had a total of seven sons and four daughters.

Louie and Nina lived in the Agawam community until 1940, at which time they bought a farm three miles west of Farmington, Montana, where they lived for twenty eight years, and moved to Choteau to retire in the fall of 1968.

For 60 years of their life they were affiliated with the Netherlands Reformed Congregations, helping churches get started and helping people from The Netherlands immigrate to Canada. They lived a close walk with God and passed this on as their most important legacy to their children and grandchildren.

Louie and Nina were both laid to rest, to await the coming of our Lord, in the Choteau cemetery. Louie passed away on April 8, 1980, and Nina on October 28, 1986.
