Funeral Rites Held Friday For Nina Bouma
Funeral services for Nina Bouma, 80, a long-time resident of the Choteau area, were held Friday, Oct. 31 at Reformed Congregation Church in Choteau with Pastor J. J. Stehouwer of Grand Rapids, Mich. officiating. She died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 1986 at Teton Medical Center in Choteau.

Lauralee Bouma was organist for the services. Ushers were John Luteyn and Larry Teunessen. Pallbearers were grandsons, Louie W. Bouma, Lawrence Bouma, Louis G. Bouma, Larry Greyn, Louie R. Bouma and Jim Bouma. Interment was in the Choteau cemetery.

Nina Bouma was born Nov. 16, 1905 at Armour, S.D., a daughter of Herman and Henrietta Hartman Kaptein. As a small child, she moved with her parents to Valier where they homesteaded, and alter the family moved to Burton Bench, northeast of Choteau.

She was married Dec. 14, 1923 to Louie W. Bouma at Choteau, making their home at Bole. Later they moved to a farm east of Conrad and in 1928 they moved to Corsica, S.D. In the fall of 1933 they returned to the Choteau area and have lived here since. Her husband, Louie, died April 8, 1980.

Surviving are seven sons: Peter of Choteau, Herman of Grand Rapids, Mich., Harold, Henry, Andrew and Ralph, all of Choteau, and John Bouma of Fairfield; four daughters, Mrs. Huigh (Ann) Greyn of Choteau; Mrs. Wulfert (Henrietta) Van De Lagemaatt and Mrs. John (Jennie) Luteyn, both of Chilliwack, B.C., and Mrs. Larry (Frances) Teunissen of Sheboygan, Wis.; two brothers, Henry Kaptein of Marned, Mich., and Albert Kaptein of Lynden, Wash.; three sisters, Mrs. Jake (Jennie) Russ and Mrs. John (Alberdina "Dina") Russ, both of Corsica, S.D., and Mrs. Adrian (Jane) Van Dyke of Conrad; 57 grandchildren and 94 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death weere her parents, her husband, a younger brother, Ralph Kaptein, and an older brother, Albert, who died at the age of 14.
