Andrew Jackson "Jack" Beck Jr.84, of McNutt Avenue, Princeton, died peacefully, early Friday morning, December 16, 2011 at his residence. Born July 30, 1927, in Martinsville, Virginia, he was the son of the late Andrew Jackson Beck Sr. and Bessie Gregory Beck. Jack was a graduate of Martinsville High School and Bluefield College. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Navy. Jack had a long career in law enforcement, his first 10 years of service; he served with the Virginia State Police. For the next 20 years of his career, he was a federal agent with the Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms Division, where he had received numerous awards and accommodations. Jack was a member of the First Baptist Church in Princeton. He enjoys working around his home, both in the yard and landscaping his property. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his only sibling, Delphine Beck Suit. Those left to cherish his memory, his devoted and loving wife of 60 years, Barbara Croom Beck. Two children, Andrew Allen Beck of Tazewell VA and Paige Marie Beck of Gainesville Florida. One grandchild, Coen Elizabeth Beck,and his dedicated caregivers, Idena Mitchell, Leanna Fuller, Brenda Meadows, Tammy & Kevin Williams. Funeral Services will be held 3:00 P.M. Sunday, December 18, 2011 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Gary Linkous speaking & Earl Davis as the soloist. Interment will be held 1:00 P.M. Monday at the Oakwood Cemetery in Martinsville Virginia. Friends may visit with the family Sunday from 2:00PM until the service hour at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Gary Shields, Jim White, Kevin Williams, Jack Miller, Trip Croom and Michael Meadows.
