Thelma E. Wight, 91 of Boring OR, passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2012. Born in Gurley, Nebraska on March 27, 1920 to Walter and Belva (Hill) Ehlers. At age 6 she and her family moved to Deshler, Nebraska where she attended numerous one room country schools and Hebron High School.
Thelma married Melvin Koester and resided in Deshler, Nebraska until 1941 when they moved to Portland, Oregon. They were blessed with four children, Genevieve, Marlin, Melva and Jeanine and later divorced.
Thelma married Gordon Wight in 1959 and continued to reside in Portland, where they were blessed with son Gregory. She moved to Boring, Oregon in 1968.
Thelma was preceded in death by her husband Gordon; daughter Genevieve, parents Walter and Belva and brothers Edward, Eugene, Norman and Orrin. Thelma is survived by daughters Melva Murphy and Jeanine Rush; sons Marlin Koester and Gregory Wight; sisters Louise, Vivian and Opal; brothers Vernie, Cecil and Wesley; seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home, 520 W. Powell Blvd in Gresham, Oregon. Private interment in Lincoln Memorial Park.
