Stillwater NewsPress, Thu. February 2, 2012--Lester S. Stokes, Sr., 92, died on Jan. 31, 2012 in Stillwater, Okla. Lester was born on Jan. 31, 1920 in Glencoe, Okla., to Ernest and Ilah (Miller) stokes. He married Beula E. Donahoo in Salinas, Calif., on Feb. 12, 1943. He attended Eureka schools before joining the U. S. Army. He fought in World War II, and upon his return, he decided to make a living as a farmer. He worked many hours in the field fulfilling his passion. Lester was a very loving Dad and Papa.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Beula E. Stokes; brothers, Wesley, Sam, and Estie Stokes; sisters, Clarice Simmons and Ruth MeGee. He is survived by his son, Lester Stokes Jr. and wife Debbie, of Glencoe, Olka; grandchildren, Toi Stokes and husband Chris, James Stokes, Jeff Stokes and wife Toni, Pilare' Simon and LaTecia Ross; nine great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and one brother, Verlin Stokes.
Poster's Personal Note: My Uncle Lester died in the Stillwater Hospital, but lived in Glencoe all his life except for his service in WWII. He died on the day he turned 92.
