2004 Stillwater News Press Obituary: Estie R. Stokes, 82, of Glencoe, died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004, in Oklahoma City. Grave side services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. in Glencoe Cemetery Association, south of Glencoe. He was born in Glencoe Jan. 11, 1922, to Ernest and Ilah Miller-Stokes. He married Vonda Lee McCullough Dec. 26, 1985, in Bentonville, Ark. He attended school in Glencoe. He farmed his whole life in Glencoe except when he served his county in the European Theater in the 2132nd Air Force. He was later discharged as sergeant. He retired to Glencoe in 1945. He enjoyed raising and training race horses.He was also a farrier and a lifetime member of V.F.W.
He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers Wesley and Sam, and one sister Mrs. Clarice Simmons. He is survived by two brothers, Lester Stokes and Verlin Stokes, both of Glencoe and one sister, Ruth Megee, also of Glencoe.
