Verlin C. Stokes, born April 23, 1927 in Glencoe Oklahoma to Ernest and Ilah (Miller) Stokes, passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the care of Dighton-Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 10:00am at Glencoe South Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 26, 2018 from 9:00am to 8:00pm at the funeral home.

He attended Eureka Schools before joining the U.S. Air Force in 1945. He served with he American occupation forces stationed in Germany. Upon his return he married Bobbie Lou Buxton. They first lived in Stillwater before moving to Kansas where he worked as a pumper in the oil fields for many years.

Verlin was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bobbie Lou Stokes; daughter, Barbara Swafford; brothers, Sam, Lester, and Estie Stokes; and sisters, Clarice Simmons and Ruth MeGee. He is survived by five nieces and one nephew.
