Her parents lived with her mother's parents and she was raised in or near the brick home her grandfather had built in 1870. When her grandfather, Leonard Turner died, she and Harvey bought his farm from the estate and she lived there the rest of her life. She never modernized the house and was still using an outhouse and a hand water pump at the time of her death. The house is still in her family, but has been modernized!
