Harriet Hudson was the daughter of Thomas Hudson who owned and operated two steamboats and several barges on the Allegheny River. She had six brothers who were all riverman operating steamships and barges. She first appears at age 18 in the 1850 census shortly before she married Joseph McCulloch 13 May 1851. They had thirteen children. After the death of her husband Joseph, she lived with her children Etta and Charles in Wilmington, Delaware and lived there with Charles until her death.

Sarah Etta McCulloch, born 27 Oct 1878, married George Washington Denney at Wilmington, Delaware. In her old age she lived with her niece Ruth McCulloch McCurdy in Washburn, North Dakota, and died 13 June 1968 at Minot, ND. Probably buried in Wilmington, Delaware.
