SERVICES FOR HELEN DORA FIEDLER HELD IN HOLYOKE, JULY 22

Services were held for Helen Dora Fiedler at the First Baptist Church in Holyoke, on July 22, 1977, at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Harold Kidwell, Sterling, officiating. Interment was in the Holyoke Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Fiedler passed away at her home on Tuesday, July 19.

Mrs. Jay Bohlender served as organist at the funeral service, with Dale Spindler as soloist. Escorts included Paul Struble, Albert Bahler, Carl Absmeier, William Kain, Freeman Scheunemann and Harry Hassler.

Helen Dora Fiedler was born at Defiance, Ohio, on December 6, 1891. She was the daughter of Herman C. Suhr and Louisa Maria Albers Suhr. Helen Dora Suhr lived in Ohio until 1906 when she moved to Holyoke with her parents. They established their home in Phillips County. Before her family moved to Holyoke, she was confirmed in the Lutheran Church at Defiance, Ohio. Her formal education was received in Defiance, Holyoke and Denver.

On October 2, 1910 she was united in marriage to Fred G. Fiedler at her parent's home. To this union was born a son and a daughter. Theodore F. Fiedler an official with the Department of Commerce in Washington, D.C. and a daughter Nena Beck Trinnier, who preceded her in death in 1971.

During Mrs. Fiedler's 71 years in Holyoke, she was very active in civic affairs. For 20 years she was Chairwoman of the Phillips County Chapter of the American Red Cross, a member of the Order of Eastern Star, a charter member of the Federated Delphian Club and the Fidelis Club.

On January 29, 1928 she became a member of the Baptist Church and served as Chairman of the Baptist Missionary Society for many years.

Mrs. Fiedler is survived by her husband, Fred G. Fiedler; son, Theodore F. Fiedler; four grandchildren, Lt. Col. Frederick Fiedler, U.S.A.F., Edwards, California, Marlene Thompson, Tucson, Arizona, Franklin Thomas Fiedler, Alamosa, and Brian Beck, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

One grandson, Theodore Ray Fiedler preceded her in death in 1974. She is also survived by eight great grandchildren, one brother, Victor A. Suhr of Buffalo, Wyoming, two sisters, Esther Baldwin, Portland, Oregon and Jennie Reinhardt of Sterling.
