Anderson Inman was the son of Joshua and Mary Inman. He was in the Civil War, Co I, 62nd NC Infantry, CSA, enlisting when he was around 35 or 40. He was captured in 1863 and spent some time in Camp Douglas near Chicago, along with 1200 other soldiers who were taken prisoner at the same time. His brothers Joseph and Daniel were in Camp Douglas with him. Both of the brothers died before the end of the war. After the war, Anderson returned to Haywood County and continued his life there. At the age of 77 he built the Inman Chapel which still stands.
