Private, Company D, 18th Pennsylvania Cavalry. Enlisted on September 8, 1862 and discharged on June 12, 1865. Also listed as Sloan. Middle initial also listed as K.

Address listed as Titusville, Crawford County, Pennsylvania in the 1890 Veteran's Census. Filed for a pension on August 16, 1879, application number 308,851, certificate 224,108. Wife Mary H. Sloan filed for a widow's pension on December 20, 1917, application number 1,112,301, certificate 898,432.

Obituary:
Patrick Kerr Sloan Has Passed Away - Pioneer Resident Died at Home at Sloandale - Patrick Kerr Sloan, aged 81 years, died at his home on the Spring Creek road, known as Sloandale, yesterday forenoon after an illness of a number of years. He first suffered a stroke of paralysis on Nov 6, 1916, and was an invalid since that time, the second stroke coming on Oct 5, 1917. Mr Sloan was the son of John and Susannah Sloan and was born in Oil Creek township, Feb 2, 1836. He was united in marriage with Miss Mary Hart at St Mary's church at Genesee, NY, on Jan 4, 1872. To this union was born the following children, who survive: Mrs E J Lesser of Boulder, Colo, J Lambert Sloan of Lambert, O, Mrs W E Luce of Charleston, W Va, Miss Ella Sloan of Ellwood City, Emma, Frank and Ambrose, residing at home; George and Edward were sons deceased. Brothers and sisters surviving include Stephen Sloan of New Castle, James L Sloan of the Spring Creek Road. Mr Sloan was a devoted member of St Titus' Catholic church and of Chase Post GAR. He served in the Civil war in Company D, 18th Cavalry. His son, George B Sloan, gave his life during the Spanish-American war, he succumbing to typhoid fever at Ponce, Porto Rico. The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at St Titus' Catholic church, Rev T W Cavanaugh offficiating, and the interment will follow in St Stephen's cemetery, near where the deceased had spent the most of his life.
