Mrs. Eva Callahan was born March 27, 1887 in Murphysboro, the daughter of William and Arminda Johnston Bradley. Her surviving siblings were Mrs. Myrtle Bunselmeyer of Rockwood and Mrs. Emma Davis of St. Louis, MO. Two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.

She married Albert Lee House on September 5, 1904. Mr. House died October 27, 1948. She later married Dave Callahan on November 18, 1959. Her surviving children were Walter House of Chester; Raymond House of Mt. Vernon; James House with the Navy Air Force at Yuma, AZ; Mrs. Alberta Holmes of Dupo; Mrs. Sallie Ford and Mrs. Emma Grott, both of Belleville; and Mrs. Irene Jenkins of East Alton. One son, Fred, preceded her in death. Surviving stepchildren included Mrs. Inez Holsapple, Mrs. Josephine Hazel, Mrs. Mary Cannon, all of Chester and Joseph Callahan of East St. Louis.

Mrs. Callahan was a member of the Pentecostal Church.

She died at the age of 79 on Friday, July 15, 1966 in Doctors Hospital in Carbondale. Her funeral service was held at Wilson Funeral Home in Ava. Rev. Lloyd Aud officiated.
