Frances Elizabeth Blackston Cobb, 86, widow of Rev. E.V. Cobb, of 14 Goodrich Street, died Sunday, September 05, 2010, at her home. Born in Pickens County, she was a daughter of the late Pearl Gilstrap and Lawrence Blackston. She and her husband pastored and started several congregations of Church of God of Prophecy and Church of God in the Upstate of SC. She also ministered with Channel 16 for thirty-seven years and dedicated her life to the Church and to helping others. She is survived by her son Loucious Sonny (Mary) Cobb of Mauldin; daughter Avanelle (Johnny) Pelfrey of Greer; brothers Melvin Blackston of Taylors, David Blackston of Sarasota, FL; sisters Macie Armonitis of Greer, Beatrice Davis of Fountain Inn, Rachel Secrist of Honea Path, Betty Jo Blackston of Travelers Rest; six grandchildren Greg Pelfrey, Scott Pelfrey, John Cobb, Jody Cobb, Pam Hammond, Lisa Wittner; and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband; three sisters; and one brother. Services will be 2 pm Wednesday at Gray Mortuary Chapel, Pelzer. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens in Clemson.
