June was was born to Andrew Joseph and Louella Josephine "Jose" Heckadon in Nyhart, MO. June resided in the Rich Hill, MO area until she moved to Kansas City, MO, after graduation from Rich Hill High School. June obtained a job at Commerce Bank in Kansas City, MO. June married Lewis (Lewie) K. Cox on January 18, 1947 in Prescott, KS. June relocated to Nevada, MO, with Lewie where he worked as a police officer after WWII. Two daughters were born in Nevada, MO, Donna and Janet. June and her two daughters accompanied Lewie after he was hired to perform a Top Secret position for the Atomic Energy Commission at the National Laboratory in Los Alamos, NM. They resided in Los Alamos, NM,until 1957, when Lewie transferred to Bendix in Kansas City, MO. They resided in Shawnee, Ks. After relocating to KS, three other children were born: Deborah, Gail and Gary.

June was a wonderful mother and a great friend to many! June had a great sense of humor and was a friendly and helpful person despite her long time illness of emphysema. June was always there to assist others in need despite being so ill herself. June died at the young age of 55 as she would have attained the age of 56 on December 28, 1981, however, she died on December 25, 1981. Her funeral was held one day after her birthday on December 29, 1981 at E. K. George and Sons in Grandview, MO, with interment at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Kansas CIty, MO.

June was preceded in death by her father "Curly" and young brother "Ernie." June was survived by her husband "Lewie;" five children: Donna, Janet, Deborah, Gail and Gary; her mother, "Jose"; sister, Wilma; and four brothers Jack, Charles, Bob and Floyd; three grandchildren: Jennifer, Crystal and Jeremie; many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces and Nephews and lots and lots of friends.

Due to many underground springs at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, June was relocated to another grave site south of the original grave and west of the lake in Space 10, Lot 132, Block 13. Family and friends enjoyed visiting June up to the very end. She left a great void in the hearts of her husband, children, brothers and sister, extended family members and so many friends!
