Ruby Mae Deakin 69, of Rural Route 1, Cuba, died at 7:56 p.m. Thursday at Methodist Medical Center, Peoria.
She was born October 29, 1915, in rural Cuba, the daughter of Curtis and Effie Mae (Wheeler) Buffum. She married Don J. Deakin December 4, 1937 in Fort Madison Iowa. He survives.
Other survivors include one son, Richard Roy Deakin of Canton; two daughters, Mrs. Celia Mae Beam of Cuba and Mrs. Linda Kay Haynes of Canton; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Ernest Buffum of Laferia, Texas, and Carroll Buffum of Canton; and two sisters, Marjorie Jones of Canton and Bessie Huffman of Bushnell.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Hukill-Henry Memorial Home, the Rev. Mike Claphan officiating. Burial was in Cuba Cemetery.
