Curtis Buffum, 87, of Cuba, died at 1:28 p.m. Thursday in Graham Hospital, after an illness of several months.

Mr. Buffum was a retired farmer and lifetime area resident. He was born and reared in a log cabin in Putman Township, south of Cuba, Dec. 23, 1879, a son of Mark and Phoebe (Bird) Buffum. On May 26, 1900, he was married at Cuba to Effie Wheeler, who died April 6, 1943.

Surviving are four sons, John Buffum, Cuba; Ernest Buffum, Wichita, Kan and Rollo Buffum and Carroll Buffum, both of Canton; three daughters, Mrs. Bessie Huffman, Bushnell; Mrs. Ruby Deakin, Cuba and Mrs. Marjorie Jones, Canton; 13 grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Preceding him in death were three children; two sisters and a brother.

Friends may call at the Hukill Funeral Chapel after 5 p.m. today, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday by Rev. Robert C. Allen, pastor of the Cuba Christian Church. Burial will be in Cuba Cemetery.
