Marjorie Dayle (Buffum) Jones, 91, of Canton, IL. passed away at 11:14 pm, Thursday, December 17, 2009 at the Graham Hospital in Canton.

Marjorie was born on April 4, 1918 in Fulton County to Curtis and Effie Mae (Wheeler) Buffum.

She married Raymond T. "Slim" Jones on April 24, 1945 in Burlington, IA. He preceded her in death on September 15, 1976. Also preceding her were her parents, 5 brothers; Carroll, Ernest, Wilbur, John and Rollo, 3 sisters; Ruby Deakin, Marie Waughtel, and, Bessie Huffman.

Surviving is a daughter Susan B. (Jones) Moore, of NM 2 granddaughters; Jennifer Lee Stufflebean, of NM and Lynda Kathryn Moore, of OR a great-grandson Zachary A. Moore of Galesburg who is currently serving in Afghanistan with the National Guard.

Marjorie worked at an ordinance plant in Burlington, IA making bombs during WW2 and also volunteered for Civil Air patrol, spotting enemy planes. Marjorie worked as a secretary in various schools and at Graham Hospital as a Nurses Aide for 14 years. She loved fishing, mushrooming, genealogy, shopping but most of all she loved spending time with her great-grandson whom she helped raise.

Services will be Monday December 21, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home, Canton. Visitation will be from 2-4 PM Sunday at the Funeral Home. Cremation rites will be accorded after the service. Burial of the ashes will be at a later date at Cuba Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Fulton Co.
