Services Held Here Last Friday For Carl A. Taylor --

Carl A. Taylor, aged 26 years, died at a Nashville hospital last Thursday night, August 13, after a brief illness.

Funeral services were held at Higgins Funeral Home last Friday afternoon at 2:30 with Elder R. A. Largen in charge. Burial was in Campbell Cemetery. Mr. Taylor was a son of Roy and Bessie Benson Taylor and was born and reared in Lincoln County.

He was a veteran of World War II and participated in numerous European engagements and was the holder of eight service medals. Among these medals were the purple heart which was received for severe shrapnel wounds which indirectly caused his death.

Besides his parents, he is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Tad Steele of Winchester, Mrs. Clifton Sims of Knoxville, Mrs. Charles Norman of Fayetteville, and Mrs. Lofton Norman of Lincoln County; Seven brothers, J. D. Taylor of Knoxville, and James, Roy, Alvis, Robert Earl, Vernon, and Thomas Taylor, all of Lincoln County.
