Mr. Brown died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009, in NHC Healthcare of Sparta.
He was born Nov. 18, 1922, in Overton County to the late Billy and Flornce Rich Brown.
Mr. Brown worked as a tile maker at Livingston Tile Plant. He also assisted in the making of the first atomic bomb in Oak Ridge.
Mr. Brown was a former member of Livingston Free Will Baptist Church and attended Stevens Street Baptist Church.
His family includes six sons, Mike, Jimmy, David and Paul Brown and Willard, Harold and Larry Hammons; 10 daughters, Cindy Day, Pauline Smith, Dalphene, Linda Fay, Kim, Lorene Judd, Pat Hammons, Mary Linda Collins and Rita A. Allen; three sisters, Rosie Smith, Josie May Carmack and Marion Formon; a brother, Ed Brown; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two wives, Molessia Hammons Brown and Leona Brown, and five brothers, Cleary, Ather, Carl, Hugh and Palo Brown.
Memorial donations may be made to the Care Center, c/o Stevens Street Baptist Church, 327 West Stevens Street, Cookeville, TN 38501.
Dr. Jimmy Arms will officiate at the services.
