Emma Waage, daughter of William and Mary Watrous Rupp, was born in Montgomery county, near Elliott, Iowa on August 29, 1879, and passed away at the Rosary Hospital, Corning Iowa, on August 2, 1963, at the age of 83 years, 11 months and 4 days. January 5, 1898, she was united in marriage to Samuel H. Waage. To this union, ten children were born. Mr. Waage passed away on December 26, 1941, and in 1943 Mrs. Waage moved to her home in Villisca. Last February she moved to Corning to be nearer her family.
She was a member of the Villisca Methodist Church and the Woman's Society of Christian Service. She was a kind and loving mother and neighbor who will be missed by her loved ones.
Mrs. Waage was preceded in death by her husband; six brothers; one sister; one daughter, Mabel Govig, who passed away in June 1934; one son, Ernest, who passed away in May 1962. She is survived by eight children, Harry, Nodaway, Mrs. Lela Mullen, Griswold, Mrs. Cleo Calkins, Lynch, Nebraska; Arthur of Stanton; Russell of Corning; Ralph of Fremont, Nebraska; Fay of Omaha, Mrs. Verda Narigon of Colorado Springs, Colorado, six daughters-in-laws; three sons-in-laws, 34 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and many friends.
