Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 23, 2011 at Rush
Family Chapel at Onawa, Iowa with Pastor Catie Newman officiating.
Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery at Blencoe, Iowa. Visitation will
be 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Rush Family Care Service, Onawa.
Jessie Edith was born December 9, 1923 at Blencoe, Iowa, the daughter of
Hiram Nickerbacker and Lena Elsie (Holeton) Allen. She attended Pickel
City Country School before entering Onawa High School. Jessie was
employed at several cafes from 1945 until 1969. During that time she
worked for Forest and Florence Thorpe. She started sewing belt loops at
Aalfs Manufacturing at Sioux City, IA in 1970 until her retirement in
May, 1989.
Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Kay Miller of Turin; three
grandchildren, Kevin (Noreen) Miller of Mississippi, Kathy Culliton of
Onawa and Karmen Chandler of Onawa; three great grandchildren, Cassie
Chandler and Adam Miller both of Onawa and Curtis Miller of Mississippi;
a great-great granddaughter, Emily Michelle Miller of Mississippi; two
brothers, Joseph "Bud" Allen of Soldier, IA and Lloyd Allen of Kelso, WA;
a sister, Amy Pierce of Castle Rock, WA and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, George, Jack,
David, Everette, John and Arthur and six sisters, Viola, Esther, Celia,
Evelyn, LaVera and Laura.
