WILLIE DEE "BILL" WALKER
HOUSTON ---Services for Willie Dee "Bill" Walker, 79 of Houston were held Tuesday at American Heritage Funeral Home in Houston, Texas. Mr. Walker was buried in Houston National Cemetery.
Mr. Walker was born April 12, 1924 in Bell County Texas to Ed Lee and Wiley Louise White Walker and died Sunday, July 6, 2003 in The Veterans Hospital, Houston, Texas.
Bill was the grandson of Bell County pioneers William Winston Walker, Sarah Adams Kirkpatrick Walker, George Prentice "Ponto" White and Mary Ann Cearley White.
Bill spent his youth in the Bell County area working on the farm and attending public schools. He lived in Houston for 48 years, where he was a car dealer. He was a private pilot and avid hunter.
Bill served in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in the European Theater of Operations for 24 months with the 442nd Airborne Troop Carrier Command Glider Division.
Mr. Walker was predeceased by his parents, grandparents and brothers, A. W. Walker, Fred Hess; and sisters Hettie Walker Raabe, Evelyn Walker Cohen and Ann Walker Estridge.
Survivors are his wife of 51 years Lucia "Lucie" Reymen Walker; six brothers, Roy Walker of Colorado Springs, CO., Tommy Walker of Gonzales, TX, Ed Walker of Altair, TX, Claude Hess of Little River-Academy, TX, Robert Walker and Jesse Walker both of Belton, TX; and 5 sisters, Katie Walker Hess Raabe of Moody,TX, Clair Walker Stone Egbert Blair of Temple, TX, Dorothy Hess Smith of Salado, TX, Faye Walker Copeland and Cewilla Walker Wolff, both of Belton, TX.
