Andrew Hogan, one of the pioneers of the county, died at his residence in Janesville Monday morning after a prolonged illness. He was born in Ireland in the County Limerick in 1832 and came to America when a young man. He was married in Covington Kentucky, to Miss Mary Haurahan, who passed away about a year ago. They came to Minnesota in 1874 settling on a farm in Alton a mile east of Janesville, where they continued to reside until some years ago when they came to town. Mr Hogan was was the father of seven children one of who died in infancy and one son, James, three years ago. Five children survive him -- John of St. Paul, Thomas of Minneapolis, Mrs P Mulcahy of Waterville, Mrs. T. J. Sulllivan of Faribault and Mrs. James Eustice of this place. He is survived also by twenty-five grandchilddren and eight great grandchildren. The funeral occurred this morning at nine Oclock at St. Ann's Caholic church, Rev Father Condron officiating. The remains were laid to rest in St. Ann's cemetery.
Throughout his long career Mr. Hogan displayed the qualities that go to make the best there is in manhood. He was an upright and just man in every sense and all time had the respect and confidence of those with whom he associated and of the public generally. He was, indeed, a righteous man. His death is sincerely mourned by the entire community.
