Mrs. Andrew Hogan

Mrs. Andrew Hogan passed away at the family home in this place Friday evening of ills incident to extreme old age. About a week before her death she fell and sustained a shock from which he did not rally. It is thought that she must have suffered a slight stroke of paralysis. She was born in the county of Kerry, Ireland, about the year 1834. She came to America when a young woman and was married to Andrew Hogan in Covington, Kentucky in 1860. They left that city in 1874 and removed to Minnesota, settling on a farm southeast of Janesville. Here they resided until some years ago when they removed to this place.

Like many other pioneers Mrs. Hogan was a woman richly endowed with the masterful qualities that made womanhood great in those days and that left its impression for good upon the community. She was kindly in her disposition and gentle in her manner and these characteristics endeared her to her family and her numerous friends here and elsewhere. Her life was one of consistent devotion to duty and to her faith sublime in its beauty and far reaching in its effects.

Mrs Hogan was the mother of seven children, two of whom are deceased, one in infancy and James A. who died two years ago. There survive her Mrs. P H. Mulcahey, of Waterville, John D., of St. Paul, Thos. A., of Minneapolis, Mrs T. J. Sullivan of Faribault and Mrs. James Eustice of this place

The funeral was conducted Monday morning from St. Ann's Catholic Church, Rev. Father S. Condron, officiating. The remains were laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery.

The deceased is also survived by 28 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
