The following death notice appeared in The Des Moines Register on January 6, 1973:
"Services for Mrs. Rose E. Hunnel, 79, of 212 Third Street, in West Des Moines, who died Thursday of a heart attack in Santa Ana, California, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial at Glendale Cemetery.
"Mrs. Hunnel was born in Des Moines and was a lifelong resident of the Des Moines area. She was a member of the Regina Guild of Sacred Heart Church.
"Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Ruth Sorensen of Des Moines, 13 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and three sisters living in California.
"Rosaries will be recited at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday at McLaren's Funeral Home."
This funeral notice appeared in the newspaper at the same time:
"HUNNEL -- Services for Rose E. Hunnel of 212 Third Street will be held 10 AM Monday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment Glendale. Rosary 4 PM Sunday at McLaren's Chapel."
