Ruth C Van Auken, age 8, of Chisago City, died June 6, 1997 at her home.
She was born Sept 27, 1916 in Taylors Falls to parents William and Anna Bloom, Ruth grew up in Shafer and attended the U of M Agriculture School. She met husband Zane at Glacier Park, while both were working at Mc Donald Lodge. They were married Dec 25, 1940. After their marriage they lived in Washington State and moved to Arcadia, Washington and then Winona, Minn, for 32 years. After retirement they lived in the mountains near Glacier Park in the summer, winters were spent in Shafer. In 1993 they moved to Point Pleasant Heights, Chisago City, where Ruth died peacefully and is now with the Lord Jesus.
He is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Helen Park, brothers, Byron, Donald, Ralph and Robert Bloom.
Ruth is survived by husband, Zane, children Karen, Mike (Pott), Becky (Bill ) Reif, grandchildren: Karen (Chuck) Stern, Aaron Teasdale, Paul Van Auken, Laura Reif, brothers and sisters, Grace Tarbox, Lillian Johnson, Richard Bloom and Wilber Bloom.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 10, 1997, at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church in Center City with Dr. Dale Peterson officiating. Interment was at Chisago Lake Cemetery.
