Grace M. Tarbox, 82, of Bay Hill Drive in South Bend, Ind., passed away on Wednesday, May 31, in the Holy Cross Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on Feb. 24, 1918, in Taylors Fall, Minn., to William and Anna (Sandberg) Bloom.
On June 14, 1947, in Ashland, Wis., as Grace M. Bloom, she married John "Jack" Tarbox. Mrs. Tarbox had been the co-owner of the Shaklee Independent Distribution Center. She was a past board member of Young Life and of Youth for Understanding, a volunteer for Memorial Hospital for over 25 years, and was a member of the Morris Park Country Club. Mrs. Tarbox was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and the Bible Study Fellowship.
She is survived by her husband, John "Jack" Tarbox of South Bend; two sons, John David (Joyce) Tarbox of Indianapolis, Ind., and Richard Paul Tarbox of Minneapolis, Minn.; four grandchildren, Natasha, Jennifer, John Warren and Mary; a sister, Lillian Johnson of Excelsior, Minn.; and by two brothers, Richard Bloom of Port Charlotte, Fla., and Wilbur Bloom of Chisago City, Minn.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 5, in the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 51900 Mayflower Road, located on the northwest corner of Brick and Mayflower roads. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger, Ind. Family and friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday in the Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, located on Ironwood and Jefferson. Memorial contributions may be made on behalf of Grace M. Tarbox to the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Building Fund.
