SUFFIELD -- John H. Spires, 86, passed away July 3, 1998 at Akron City Hospital, after a short illness.

He was born in Vinton County, and had lived in Suffield Township for 53 years.

Mr. Spires was employed with the AC&Y Railroad for 35 years, retiring in 1971, and was a member of the Springfield Church of the Brethren.

Preceded in death in 1987 by daughter, Reva Mishler; and in 1963 by granddaughter, Kerrie Ann Mishler, he is survived by wife of 59 years, Ada (Blackburn); son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Nancy Spires; son-in-law Robert Mishler, all of Mogadore; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nine brothers and sisters, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Thursday, 11 a.m., at the Springfield Church of the Brethren, 3500 Albrecht Ave., Rev. Daniel M. Petrey officiating.

Burial at Hillside Memorial Park. Friends may call from 7 to 9 TONIGHT (Wednesday) at the Hopkins Lawver MOGADORE Funeral Home, 34 S. Cleveland Ave. The family suggests memorials to the church. (Hopkins Lawver, Mogadore, 733-6271.)
