John Haun was first married to Elizabeth White in about 1837. She died during the birth of their son,William Hahn (Haun) on 20 Jul 1839 and is buried in the Lower Cemetery. William was raised by John's parents, David and Marcella Haun and he changed the spelling of his last name to H-A-H-N and his side of the family continues to spell their last name HAHN. William died in 17 Jan 1918 and is buried in the Rinehart Cemetery South of Oakland together with many of his family.
Some four years after his first wife died, John Haun remarried to Jane Humbertson on 11 Nov 1843, the daughter of William B. Humbertson and Sarah Loar of Alleghany County near Frosburg, MD.
Their marriage was blessed with the following children:
1) VALINDA(VERLINDA) BELLE HAUN (1845-1931) m. Moses Wensell. Both were buried in Lower Cemetery on Route 219 South of Oakland. Their graves were moved in AUGUST 2007 by the Wensell family to Oakland Cemetery, Oakland, Garrett County, MD.
2) THOMAS JEFFERSON HAUN (1847-1897) m. Lucilla C. buried in West Finley Cemetery, West Finely, Washington County, PA.
3) GEORGE HAUN (1851-1907) m. Celia Ann ?. In the 1880 US Census he and Celia were living in PA. When his mother died in 1894, her obituary lists him living in Pattan, Alabama. Both he and his wife are both buried in Davis Creek Cemetery, Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
4) ISAIAH HAUN (1853-1931) m. Mary E. Gauer (Mary is buried in the Saint Johns Lutheran Church Cemetery at Redhouse south of Oakland, Md) and after her death Isaiah m. Elizabeth Warfel. He and Elizabeth are buried in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Petersburg, Huntingdon County, PA.
5) SARAH RHODA HAUN (1858-1919)wife of Moses and George S. Biggs. Sarah and George S. Biggs are buried in Lower Cemetery along Route 219 South of Oakland.
6) LYDIA MARGARET HAUN (according to the 1860 US Census she was six months old in Jan 1860 which would make her birth in Jun 1859) (Her death certificate has her date of birth as 3 Jun 1862) (1862-1938) m. George W. Poland in Garrett Co, Md in 1886 which ended in annulment or divorce. She moved west to Iowa and either before or after m. James Wallace Miller and had two sons born there before moving to Kirkland, Washington where they had one daughter. Both Lydia and James are buried in Kirkland Cemetery, Kirkland, King County, Washington.
7) WINFIELD SCOTT HAUN (1863-1941) m. Phoebe Jane King and is buried in Claysville Cemetery, Claysville, Washington County, Pa.
8) BESSIE HAUN (1866-?)
9) MOLLIE HAUN (1870-?)
Bessie and Mollie are not listed as surviving their mother in 1894, so it must be assumed that they died prior to 1894.
