Green Davis Dalby was educated at McKenzie College in Clarksville, Red River Co, Texas and later taught there. This school was started in 1841 as the first Methodist school in North Texas and was the most prosperous school west of the Ms River. Tuition for nine months was $110 for preparatory and $130 for college. On 21th Sept 1860, Green married Tirza Q Lumpkin. During the Civil War he was a soldier in the Confederate Army in the medical department. For a time, Green was County Surveyor of Bowie Co, Texas and Postmaster of Dalby Springs for a long time. Children were:(1) Mona Kate Dalby, (2) Eva Dalby (married John E Anderson), (3) Anna Knott Dalby (married E R Joiner), (4) Joseph Hays Dalby (married Jessie Fulbright), (5&6) died as infants.
