She was the first born of nine children to Ole and Martha Williksen. She married Peder Ellingsen Winterton on 29 Oct 1888 in the Norwegian Lutheran Church in Lee County, Illinois. Divorced in Humboldt County, Iowa sometime between 1900 and 1904. (Records show he remarried in 1904). She then moved with her five children to Omaha, Nebraska where she resided and operated a boarding house until her death. Her son, Edwin, predeceased her in 1924 but she remained close to her other son and three daughters until the time of her death.
