Monday Here for Cliff Stohecker
Passed Away in Hospital At Waterloo Following Cerebral Hemorrhage
Funeral services for Clifford Strohecker, 54, of this city were conducted Monday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the Methodist church with Rev. Oliver Jensen officiating.
Mrs. Cliff Burr served as organist and played hymn selections.
Pallbearers were from the American Legion and the Odd Fellow lodge and included Ralph Foss, George Rothmeier, Joe Vopelak, Max Thompson, Frank Miller and Henry Teachout.
The American Legion gave its military service at the graveside in West View cemetery, where burial was made in the family lot.
Died Saturday
Mr. Stohecker died in Schoitz Memorial at 7:15 a.m. Saturday morning. Death resulted from the effects of a cerebral hemorrhage with which he was struck on Sunday. He had been hospitalized since Wednesday evening.
Clifford Harrison Strohecker was born to Frank and Amelia Strohecker July 25, 1896 on a farm in Benton Co., near Geneseo.
He came with his parents to the farm near La Porte City when a young boy and this community and city remained his place of residence thereafter.
Surviving are his widow, six children, Earl, Harold and Marlene at home, Ralph and Mrs. Herbert Kittrell, Waterloo and Mrs. Jerry Losenicky, Garrison; eight grandchildren, three brothers, Ed Strohecker, Waterloo and Joe Stohecker and George Stohecker, La Porte City and two sisters, Mrs. Wm. Smith, Waterloo and Miss Pearl Strohecker, Burkley, Calif.
His parents an infant daughter and one sister preceded him in death.
Mr. Strohecker was a veteran of World War I, a member of USS San Diego, Post No. 207 American Legion of the IOOF lodge and of the La Porte City Volunteer Fire Co., for more than 25 years. He had been a director of the La Porte City Cemetery Assn many years and at the time of his death was the association’s president….
